Official: Nigerian-Australian Striker Inks New Three-Year Deal With Ipswich Town
Published: May 08, 2018Through their official website, EFL Championship club Ipswich Town have informed that promising Australian-born striker of Nigerian parentage Ben Folami has penned his first professional contract at the club.
The 18-year-old has committed his future to The Blues by penning a three-year contract.
Folami made his professional debut for Ipswich Town in their 2-1 loss to Crystal Palace in the League Cup in August 2017 before he was handed his Championship debut off the bench last month vs Millwall.
Speaking on the new deal, Folami said : ''It’s great to get the contract sorted and I’m looking forward to hopefully an exciting three years at Ipswich.
''To be involved over the last month with the first-team has been brilliant. I have to be grateful first of all to Mick [McCarthy] and TC [Terry Connor] for giving me 45 minutes against Millwall.
''I never expected that and then I’m grateful obviously to Bryan [Klug] for allowing me to start my first ever game in the Championship.
''Things have moved on for me very quickly over the last month and now I have to build on that. ''
Folami turned out for Football NSW Institute and Sutherland Sharks in Australia before he was snapped up by Ipswich Town in 2015.
