With the summer transfer window approaching, clubs have already started preparations to bolster their squad and Ligue 1 outfit Monaco are no different.

According to L'Equipe, Monaco are in pole position to sign Anderlecht whizkid Eliot Matazo ahead of his other suitors Manchester United and Bayern Munich.

Former Nigeria international Michael Emenalo was appointed Monaco's sporting director in November 2017, and has excellent negotiation skills, having convinced Pietro Pellegri to join the Principality outfit while he's leading the race for Lyon teen sensation Willem Geubbels.

Emenalo is aiming to continue the project which he started at Chelsea by signing the most promising youngsters in the world.

During his time with the Stamford Bridge outfit, he oversaw the arrivals of Super Eagles stars Victor Moses and Kenneth Omeruo, attempted to sign ex-Golden Eaglets sensation Isaac Success and was offered Kelechi Nwakali.

Eliot Matazo will get a better deal if he joins Manchester United or Bayern but prefers a move to Monaco as he is more likely to break into their first team in the next two years.

Emenalo has also held talks with AC Milan chiefs over the signing of Portugal international André Silva when the window opens for business.
