Official: Super Eagles Midfielder Offered New Deal By Burton Albion
Published: May 09, 2018Nigeria international Hope Akpan has to decide whether or not to remain on the books of demoted Championship club Burton Albion next season.
The Brewers have informed through their official website that the central midfielder has been offered a new contract ahead of the start of pre-season preparations.
This is the second consecutive season Akpan has suffered relegation with a Championship club, as his past club Blackburn Rovers were demoted at the end of the 2016-2017 campaign.
He finished the season with two goals in 26 appearances in the second-tier, both coming in the last two matches against Bolton Wanderers and Preston North End.
The ex-Everton youth-teamer has not been called up to the national team since the appointment of Gernot Rohr and it is all but confirmed that he will not be named to 2018 Nigeria's World Cup roster.
Apart from the aforementioned teams, Akpan has worn the jerseys of English clubs Hull City, Crawley Town and Reading.
