Teenage Nigerian striker Adeleke Akinyemi netted four goals for Latvian club Ventspils as they thrashed their Albanian opponents, Luftetari, 5-0 in the first qualifying round of the UEFA Europa League on Thursday, July 12.
The 19-year-old opened the scoring in the 8th minute before doubling the advantage on 12 minutes, and twelve minutes later the game ended as a contest when he bagged his hat-trick.
Eight minutes before half-time, another young Nigerian Tosin Aiyegun, 20, wrote his name on the scoresheet when he converted a spot kick, before Akinyemi slotted home his fourth to make it 5-0 in the 43rd minute.
2013 Fifa U17 World Cup-winning midfielder Abdullahi Alfa was the third Nigerian in action at the Olimpiskā centra Ventspils Stadium and the trio went the full ninety for the home team.
Adeleke Akinyemi has been in red-hot form since the start of the 2018 season in Latvia, scoring 8 goals in 12 league matches, including a hat-trick against Liepaja in May.
Next week Thursday's second leg, which is effectively a dead rubber, will be staged at the Elbasan Arena in Albania.
