Arsenal Confirm Iwobi For Pre-Season Tour of Singapore
Published: July 16, 2018Arsenal Football Club have confirmed that Nigeria international Alex Iwobi will be part of the club's pre season tour of Singapore where they will compete in the International Champions Cup (ICC).
The Super Eagles star has been on holidays after his World Cup exertions and is now due to return to club duties ahead of the Gunners' departure on Sunday for Asia.
Iwobi played bit part role in Nigeria's World Cup participation.
The official club website, www.arsenal.com, on Monday informed that the Nigerian will join fellow African and Egypt midfielder Mohamed Elneny as well as influential playmaker Mesut Ozil for the tour.
"Mesut Ozil, Mohamed Elneny and Alex Iwobi are all joining the travelling squad our pre-season tour to Singapore.
"The trio will be in Asia after returning from World Cup duty where they were representing Germany, Egypt and Nigeria.
"Many of the players have already been back in training since the start of July and took part in our first pre-season match, an 8-0 victory at Boreham Wood on Saturday," the club website noted.
"New signings Bernd Leno, Sokratis and Matteo Guendouzi are expected to be in the squad," the website further hinted.
However it went further to explain that "The travelling party, which is subject to change, is also expected to include many first-team regulars from last season such as Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Hector Bellerin, Petr Cech, Calum Chambers, Rob Holding, Alexandre Lacazette, Ainsley Maitland-Niles, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Shkodran Mustafi and Aaron Ramsey."
Arsenal will play against Atletico Madrid and PSG at the Singapore National Stadium in the International Champions Cup.
