Taiwo Awoniyi Names His Favorite Liverpool Player And He's Not From Africa
Published: July 18, 2018Nigeria U23 international Taiwo Awoniyi has revealed the name of his favorite player in Liverpool and opted to pick Brazil's World Cup star Roberto Firmino ahead of the Africans in the squad.
The two best players in Africa according to CAF, Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane, Guinea's Naby Keïta and Cameroon defender Joël Matip are very important members of Liverpool's first team.
Shortly after Liverpool announced that Awoniyi extended his contract, the young Nigerian answered a number of questions, including what he made of the club in the last twelve months.
''It was an amazing year for the club, with the likes of Mane, Salah and my favourite player, Firmino. He works so hard for the team, plays for the team and makes the job easier for the team,'' said Awoniyi to the Reds official website.
He added : ''Mane and Salah have really done well for the club and shown the world what Africa has got. Many African players have this talent – it’s just the opportunity sometimes.''
Between them, Salah and Mane scored 64 goals in all competitions for Liverpool last season.
