Arsenal's Alex Iwobi Will Definitely Not Feature Against Atletico Madrid
Published: July 26, 2018Arsenal winger Alex Iwobi will definitely not make his maiden appearance in pre-season when Arsenal tackle Atletico Madrid in the International Champions Cup on Thursday afternoon.
Through official channels, Arsenal have revealed that the Gunners fans in Singapore and elsewhere will not feast their eyes on the Nigeria international, Mesut Ozil and Mohamed Elneny.
The reason the Gunners have given for the absence of the World Cup stars is that the trio are still in the early stages of their pre-season training and they added that goalkeeper Emiliano Martínez has not been included on the bench for this one.
With fellow Hale End Academy product Chuba Akpom not in the traveling party to Singapore and manager Unai Emery not looking the way of several young players of Nigerian descent in the ranks of Arsenal, it means no Nigerian player will be on parade at The National Stadium (Singapore).
Iwobi, who returned to Arsenal training on Monday, July 23, will be hoping to be available for selection in Saturday's friendly against Paris Saint-Germain.
