Manchester United Right-Back Crisis : Nigerian Defender Injured
Published: July 26, 2018American-born Nigerian defender Matthew Olosunde cannot solve Manchester United's right-back crisis because he is injured.
Speaking to the official website, Red Devils boss Jose Mourinho has admitted that he has a selection issue at the right-back position ahead of pre-season friendlies against Liverpool, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich.
Antonio Valencia is out with a calf injury, Ashley Young and Victor Lindelof represented their nations at the World Cup and have not reported for pre-season, while new signing Diogo Dalot is out until September.
According to our colleagues at New Manchester United News, Olosunde is not an option as he has been sidelined with an undisclosed ailment.
The 20-year-old, who is predominantly a right-back, didn't travel with United U23s to Austria where they held a training camp and did not figure for that age group in friendly matches against SV Ried, Rochdale and Stoke City.
Olosunde has trained with Manchester United first-teamers in the past and was named on the provisional rosters for Premier League matches against Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur in 2017.
