Arsenal Boss Explains How Iwobi Impressed Him Against PSG
Published: July 28, 2018Arsenal coach Unai Emery has expressed his satisfaction at the performance of Alex Iwobi in his side's 5-1 victory over PSG at the National Stadium in Singapore, stressing that it was the winger's first pre-season game and he missed the start of preparations due to his commitments with the Super Eagles in Russia.
Iwobi, who played only the first half, was lively on the left flank and was unfortunate not to score when PSG custodian, Gianluigi Buffon denied him with his legs.
Asked if the heat was an issue, Emery told reporters : ''No. It was the first match for Mesut, Iwobi and Elneny.
''They haven’t really worked tactically with the team, this week we worked one day tactically. This morning we're working on positioning, but they need to play.
''But I am very happy with how the players played, this was he first time for these three players.''
Arsenal will face Chelsea in their next friendly on August 1 before wrapping up their pre-season schedule against Lazio next Saturday.
