21-Year-Old Midfielder Luke Amos Named In Tottenham 18 Vs Newcastle
Published: August 11, 2018Luke Amos has been rewarded for his excellent form during Tottenham Hotspur's pre-season, after manager Mauricio Pochettino named him in the 18-man match day squad for the Premier League clash against Newcastle United on Saturday afternoon.
This is the first time in the midfielder's career that he has made the match day squad for a Premier League game, though he has been named in the 18 for Champions League and League Cup matches.
The 21-year-old failed to get off the bench against Liverpool in October 2016 and a year later, he was a non-playing substitute when Spurs faced APOEL Nicosia.
Mauricio Pochettino has picked Eric Dier and Moussa Sissoko as his two holding midfielders, and Amos will be hoping to make his debut as a substitute ahead of Mousa Dembele, who has been named among the seven subs.
The London born Amos started International Champions Cup matches against Roma, Barcelona and AC Milan plus the last pre-season game against Girona.
The number 40 has been on the books of Tottenham since 2006.
