Tottenham Boss Reveals Exactly What He Said To Nigerian Starlet Before Premier League Debut
Published: August 11, 2018Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino has revealed exactly what he said to Nigerian midfielder Luke Amos just before he made his Premier League bow this afternoon against Newcastle United.
The former England U18 international made his senior debut for Spurs after being an unused substitute in two previous first team matches against Liverpool (League Cup) and APOEL (Champions League).
Pochettino was seen talking to Amos before the defensive midfielder came on as replacement for Eric Dier in the 88th minute.
Speaking to reporters post-match, the Argentinian coach said : ''He was so relaxed and calm and I said 'Come on, you need to show energy'.
''Nah, he was so calm and relaxed and I said to him you just play how you know how to play, easy and enjoy. Football is about enjoyment.''
The 21-year-old Luke Amos made his competitive debut for Spurs 12 years after he joined their Academy from Ware Youth.
