Chelsea Loanee Ola Aina Assist For Torino's Goal Ruled Out By VAR
Published: August 19, 2018Chelsea loanee Ola Aina made his debut off the bench for Torino as they began the season with a 1-0 loss to AS Roma at Stadio Olimpico Grande Torino on Sunday evening.
Manager Walter Mazzarri was forced to replace right wing-back Lorenzo De Silvestri in the 25th minute after he suffered an injury and on came Aina for his maiden appearance in Italy.
In the 49th minute, Torino's Iago Falque saw his goal ruled out as the Super Eagles defender was adjudged to be in an offside position by referee Di Bello in the lead up to the goal.
Aina played a 1-2 with Alex Berenguer before laying an inviting pass into the path of Falque, whose shot squirmed under the Roma goalkeeper, Olsen.
With one minute left on the clock, Edin Dzeko netted a dramatic winner for the visitors when he volleyed the ball into the back of the net after brilliant work from Justin Kluivert.
Aina's appearance today against the capital outfit was his fourth game in a topflight league in Europe, having played three Premier League games for Chelsea in their title-winning season.
