Veteran Super Eagles Defender To Remain At Monaco If...
Published: August 30, 2018AS Monaco and Super Eagles veteran left-back Elderson Echiejile is on the radar of top clubs from the Turkish Super Lig and Belgium, where he spent five months last season playing for Cercle Brugge.
The 30-year-old defender returned to French club AS Monaco after a successful loan spell at Belgian side Cercle Brugge, helping the team win the Championship and gaining promotion into the Jupiler division.
A close ally to Elderson revealed to brila.net that the former Sporting Gijon and Braga defender is in between a tight transfer battle with as many as four clubs queuing up for his services from Turkey and Belgium.
However, the source also confirmed that the Super Eagles player is ready to see out his contract at Monaco under Manager Leonardo Jardim if the prospective move fails to materialize.
“Elderson is still a Monaco player and he is ready to feature for the former Ligue one Champions this season”
“Some top Turkish and Belgian Clubs have been in touch with his agents and talks are underway, but if nothing happens before Saturday, Elderson will remain with Monaco,” the top source confirmed to brila.net.
The undisclosed Turkish League clubs and Belgian outfits are all in tight race for the Nigerian defender as the European Summer transfer window is running to an end.
The left-full back was in the squad for the Super Eagles for the summer’s World Cup 2018 at Russia.
Having tested football in Portugal, France, Spain, Belgium and Turkey, it is obvious that Elderson is one of the most experienced and widely traveled-Super Eagles players since starting his football career at Bendel Insurance.
We can expect a decision on Echiejile’s future in a couple of days as he is keen on pushing for a return to the Super Eagles’ squad ahead of the Cameroon 2019 African Cup of Nations.

Echiejile was left out of the Super Eagles squad to face Seychelles on 8th September in order to sort his club football future and return to playing regularly.
