Sunderland Manager Comments On Contract Situation Of Tottenham, Everton Target Maja
Published: December 22, 2018Sunderland manager Jack Ross is hoping that Josh Maja will remain at the club amid speculation linking him with several teams higher up the pyramid in the January transfer window.
The teenager is out of contract in June 2019 and would be available for a small fee set by a tribunal if he does not extend his contract beyond the end of the 2018-2019 season.
His performances have reportedly attracted the attention of Everton, Tottenham Hotspur, Southampton, Manchester City, Middlesbrough and Millwall, and a departure from Sunderland next month cannot be ruled out.
Speaking to Northern Echo about Maja, Ross said : ''I suppose with Josh’s situation, he’s fit at the moment and out of contract at the end of the season, that will be a factor for potential suitors and I get that.
''That’s the nature of the beast and if they’re interested then they might not show their hand just yet, why would they?
''We are still confident that Josh and Lynden will stay at the club. There’s nothing in my planning that thinks they won’t be there.''

Maja was restricted to six starts for the Black Cats
during the last campaign but has established himself as one of the most
feared strikers in the third tier this term, scoring 12 goals in 18
starts.
