Official : Avaldsnes IL Pull Off Transfer Coup By Signing Nigeria's Most Promising Talent
Published: December 27, 2018Norwegian Toppserien club Avaldsnes IL have pulled off a transfer coup by signing Nigeria international Rasheedat Ajibade from FC Robo.
Aged 19, the versatile striker is officially recognized as the most promising talent in her homeland, having won the Nigeria Football Federation 2018 Young Player Of The Year.
Ajibade's agreement with Avaldsnes IL will see her remain in Rogaland until at least the end of the 2020 season as she has put pen to paper on a two-year contract.
''When you look at her age and her merits - been central to the U20 team and the A national team, most recently in the Africa championship that Nigeria and Rasheedat won,'' said Avaldsnes IL coach Lena Tyriberget to hnytt.no.
"You realize that Rasheedat is a very promising Nigerian national team player. As a player type, she is typically either 8s or 10s on the pitch.''
Super Falcons assistant coach Maureen Mmadu captained Avaldsnes IL for two straight years, 2011 and 2012, and helped them come to the top league.
