Official : Chelsea Recall Defensive Midfielder From Loan Spell

Premier League side Chelsea have recalled defensive midfielder Charlie Colkett form his loan spell at Shrewsbury Town, the League One club have officially announced.

The 22-year-old's original agreement with the Blues would have seen him remain at the League One club until the end of the 2018-2019 season.

Colkett returning to his parent club Chelsea is not a surprise as he was denied first-team opportunities by manager Sam Ricketts.

He made only six appearances across all competitions, logging 336 minutes, from a possible 33.

The former Charlton Athletic youth-teamer previously spent time on loan at Bristol Rovers, Swindon and Vitesse Arnhem.

Charlie Colkett has been on the books of Chelsea since 2007, having joined at U11 level.
