Royal Excel Mouscron Chief Confirms Interest In Liverpool Striker Awoniyi
Published: January 09, 2019Liverpool loanee Taiwo Awoniyi has been declared surplus to requirements at Belgian First Division A team KAA Gent and was not in the traveling party to Oliva for their seven-day winter training camp ahead of the resumption of the league.
The striker's loan spell at KAA Gent has not been a success having failed to find the net in 16 appearances in the league and both parties are working on terminating his contract by mutual consent.
Awoniyi had a hand in 17 goals from 31 appearances while on loan at Royal Excel Mouscron last season.
The Technical Director of Royal Excel Mouscron, Paul Allaerts has confirmed that they are interested in his services this month.
''We have always been interested in him, even last summer, and we proposed him to extend his adventure in Mouscron, but he opted for Ghent, which I can understand," said Paul Allaerts to Sudpresse
"There is a good chance that Taiwo will leave Ghent in the coming days, we are very interested in getting him back, but before that can happen, he must first get rid of his contract, we have always kept in contact with him after his departure.
