Watford Activate Nigerian Midfielder Contract Extension Clause
English Premier League side Watford have exercised their option to extend the contract of promising Nigerian midfielder Emmanuel Adebiyi, allnigeriasoccer.com can exclusively report.

It was thought that Adebiyi was going to pen a professional contract ahead of the 2019-2020 season but that decision has been delayed because the Hornets have a new Head of Academy.

Two months ago, Watford parted company with their former Head of Academy after allegations of bullying were made against him.

In exercise of the option contained in Clause 4.2 of the scholarship agreement between Watford and Adebiyi, the Vicarage Stadium outfit have renewed the agreement for a further period of one year from the first day of July 2019, meaning next season, the player will be a third-year scholar at the club.

Aged 18, he was one of the key players for Watford as they reached the semifinals of the FA Youth Cup before they were knocked out by eventual champions Liverpool.

Adebiyi was born in Nigeria but grew up in England and joined the Hornets as an U16.
