Aston Villa To Battle RB Leipzig For Abraham If They Return To Premier League
Published: May 15, 2019Championship club Aston Villa will join the race to sign prolific Nigerian striker Tammy Abraham if they return to the Premier League at the end of the 2018-2019 season.
Aston Villa are one game away from achieving their main goal for the season after beating West Brom on penalties in the Championship playoff semifinal on Tuesday.
According to the Sun, Villans will look to make Abraham's loan signing permanent if he takes them to the top-flight but face competition from RB Leipzig, who are preparing a £25 million bid for his services.
The England U21 striker is having a great season at Aston Villa and is the highest scoring player of Nigerian descent in the top four divisions in England, with 25 goals in 37 appearances.
The stumbling block to a potential deal is that Chelsea have been slapped with a two-window transfer ban and could decide to keep Abraham at the club next season.
In the January transfer window, Wolverhampton Wanderers had wanted to sign the Nigerian Federation target, but the youngster preferred to stay at Aston Villa.
