Official : Prolific Super Eagles Striker With Over 200 Career Goals Joins Japanese Club Kyoto Sanga
Published: December 27, 2019Out-of-favour Nigeria international Peter Utaka has become one of the first Nigerian players to agree a move to a new club ahead of the official opening of the winter transfer market, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.
Japanese J2 League side Kyoto Sanga FC informed via their this week that Utaka is joining the club on a permanent deal subject to a routine medical.
Apart from a brief spell at Danish team Vejle BK in 2018, he has been representing Japanese clubs since 2015, moving to Shimizu S-Pulse after ending his association with Chinese club Beijing Guoan.
"I am delighted to have signed a contract with Kyoto Sanga FC. I am not looking forward to seeing the new environment, new teammates and club staff, and supporters. Thanking you in advance!" said Peter Utaka.
The 35-year-old's other clubs include Dinamo Zagreb, Maasmechelen, Westerlo, Royal Antwerp, OB, Dalian Aerbin, Shanghai Shenxin, Sanfrecce Hiroshima, FC Tokyo and Tokushima Vortis.
Utaka has racked up more than 200 career goals since turning professional, with 69 scored while wearing the colours of Odense Boldklub in Denmark.
He was named to the 30-man Super Eagles provisional roster for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.
The transfer window in Japan will open for business on Saturday, January 4, 2020.
