Nigeria Captain Enjoying Best Spell As Barcelona Player, Nets Brace In Three Minutes Vs Sporting de Huelva
Published: February 16, 2020Nigeria captain Asisat Oshoala is enjoying her best spell as a Barcelona player and continued her purple patch with another outstanding performance for the Blaugranes in their 7-0 rout of Sporting de Huelva at Estadi Johan Cruyff (Sant Joan Despí) on Sunday evening, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.
The former Arsenal and Liverpool striker made an impact after replacing Alexia Putellas in the 77th minute, scoring in the 88th and 91st minutes.
Oshoala's goals today meant she has now registered her name on the scoresheet in five consecutive matches for Barcelona in all competitions, having previously netted in games against Sevilla, Atlético Madrid, Real Sociedad and Sporting de Huelva, and in doing so, she equaled her best consecutive run of games scoring.
In 2019 (September 29 - October 26) , the African Player of the Year racked up six goals during her scoring run, which she has bettered in her current scoring streak with 8 goals from five games.
Against Sporting de Huelva today, Oshoala made it 6-0 with a brilliant shot from the edge of the box, then wrapped up the scoring with a close range effort in stoppage time.
The Barcelona number 20 has a chance to set a new personal best in next Sunday's Primera División Femenina match at Logroño.
She has now scored 23 goals in all competitions so far this season.
