Heerenveen's Ejuke Statistically In Best Form Of His Life; Scores & Assists For The First Time In Netherlands
Published: March 01, 2020Chidera Ejuke is enjoying the best spell of his career with Eredivisie outfit SC Heerenveen, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.
Deployed as a center forward in Saturday's league game versus Twente, the former Liverpool trialist accomplished a scoring feat he had not previously managed since moving the the Netherlands - getting on the scoresheet and providing an assist in the same game.
In fact, only once in his professional career he had previously scored and contributed a helper in the same match and that was roughly two years ago during his days with Valerenga Fotball, in a 6-1 rout of IK Start.
In Ejuke's last six league games, he has been involved in five goals (3 goals, 2 assists), which is a career best for consecutive matches.
Against Twente, the 22-year-old doubled Heerenveen's advantage with a right-footed shot, before assisting the third goal scored by Joey Veerman.
With Club Brugge winger Emmanuel Dennis ruled out of the upcoming 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Sierra Leone, it remains to be seen if manager Gernot Rohr will hand Ejuke a maiden Super Eagles call-up, which would be a good PR move by the German considering that the player is a darling of the fans.
