Van Vossen's Ajax Best XI : Finidi In But Five Nigerians Miss Out Including Kanus, Oliseh
Published: March 30, 2020Former Netherlands international Peter van Vossen has named his all-time best XI players who have represented Ajax Amsterdam and has included only one Nigerian player on the list published by AD.
Van Vossen has gone for a 4-3-3 formation usually deployed by the Dutch champions, with Finidi taking up the right wing role.
"A graceful right winger, with speed, technique, insight and scoring ability. In addition, he also had a lot of football wit," Vossen said on Finidi.
"He was very good at timing the game. When he was alone, he held the ball to make the team join. He had noticed that very well.
"As a result, Finidi hardly suffered any ball loss."

Finidi's best moment in an Ajax Amsterdam shirt was winning the UEFA Champions League in May 1995, and Nwankwo Kanu who was also part of the Champions League-winning squad has been omitted.
Finidi has been selected over two of the best old fashioned wingers produced by Nigeria in Tijani Babangida and Pius Ikedia.
Babangida was signed as a replacement for Finidi in 1996 and won the Eredivisie title with Ajax in 1998.
Former Nigeria captain Sunday Oliseh was snubbed for a midfield role, with Vossen opting for the combative Edgar Davids, versatile Clarence Seedorf and club legend Jari Litmanen in a midfield three.
There are no arguments over the selection of Michael Reiziger for the right back role ahead of Christopher Kanu.
