Ex-Sochaux Midfielder Names Marseille Hero Taye Taiwo As The Defender He Hated Facing
Published: April 01, 2020Legendary Sochaux midfielder Michaƫl Isabey has named Taye Taiwo as the defender he hated facing during his playing days in the French Ligue 1.
One of the best Nigerian left-backs in history, Taiwo was on the books of Marseille for six and a half years, making over 270 appearances for the Ligue 1 giants in all competitions and was involved in an impressive 48 goals (25 goals, 23 assists).
Isabey, who played for Sochaux from 1997 to 2009, has highlighted the qualities of the former Super Eagles star.
Speaking to L'Equipe via lephoceen.fr, he said : "The defender I hated to face? Taye Taiwo. "He was very quick in his interventions, but also very strong, wide. It was impossible to go around!
"As soon as I pushed my ball a little too much, he put his body in opposition and it was over".

Taiwo had spells at AC Milan, Queens Park Rangers, Dynamo Kiev, Bursaspor, HJK Helsinki, Lausanne, AFC Eskilstuna and RoPS after leaving Marseille.
