French Football Expert Explains Why Bordeaux Will Sell Samuel Kalu For A Discounted Fee
Published: April 04, 2020French football journalist Florian Sabathier is of the opinion that Bordeaux will sell Samuel Kalu for a discounted fee in the summer transfer window.
Sabathier has tipped Kalu and Guinea winger François Kamano for the Bordeaux exit door because of their poor relationship with manager Paulo Sousa, something which clubs will be aware of before making a bid for their services.
The Nigeria international has struggled for game time since October 2019, starting only seven of the 20 games played by Bordeaux in the Ligue 1.
"When we see the return of François Kamano against Saint-Etienne, he was invisible. Kalu from time to time may hold on to certain matches," said Sabathier to webgirondins.com.
"It will be complicated. The problem is that if you sell both players this summer you are selling them at a discount.
"The clubs that will be interested in Samuel Kalu will know that there is a problem with the Nigerian international and Paulo Sousa.
"I would say that they may be compatible with Girondins but I do not think they are compatible with Sousa."
Kalu joined Bordeaux from KAA Gent in August 2018, signing a five-year deal that runs out at the end of the 2022-2023 season.
