Dessers Reflects On Reaching Goalscoring Target, Postponed Nigeria Debut, Two Highlights Of Season
Heracles Almelo striker Cyriel Dessers has reflected on reaching his goalscoring targets for the 2019-2020 season.

When he joined Heracles in July 2019, the Super Eagles hopeful set himself a target of being involved in 20 goals in the Eredivisie, something which he achieved when he netted the winner against reigning champions Ajax Amsterdam in February.

In quotes carried by theĀ  official website of the Eredivisie, Dessers said : "I had hoped to be involved in twenty goals, that has now worked out exactly, fifteen goals, five assists.

"Ajax at home when I was allowed to score the winner was a very special moment."

Last month, Dessers saw his dream of making his international debut for Nigeria against Sierra Leone go up in smoke due to the global scenario.

"That the international match with Nigeria did not hold really hurt. I really felt that it was going to be the best moment of my career. To see that it is not going to happen ...," the Heracles number 9 added.

Dessers revealed that netting the game-winning goal against Ajax and the away win at Twente in which he got on the scoresheet are the two highlights of his season so far.

"The derby we won with Heracles against Twente was also fantastic. The atmosphere was great both in the stadium and when we returned to our own stadium by bus. More than 1,000 people were waiting for us.

"We were on top of the bus, I have only experienced that twice: when we promoted with NAC and when we got European football with FC Utrecht."
