Chelsea Overtake Man City In Race To Sign Nigerian Defender Almost As Fast As Aubameyang
Published: April 23, 2020
Chelsea have leapfrogged Manchester City in the race to sign Borussia Dortmund central defender of Nigerian descent Nnamdi Collins, according to German newspaper Bild.
Considered a very pacy player, Collins runs the 30 meters with 3.8 seconds, just under a tenth of a second slower than ex-Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
Borussia Dortmund have offered Collins a new deal in a bid to fend off interest from the two English Premier League giants and the 16-year-old has been invited on multiple occasions to train with their first team.
Chelsea have been scouting the German-Nigeria for three years now and are preparing a multi-million pound package.
He has been on the books of Borussia Dortmund since the 2016-2017 season after joining from Fortuna Düsseldorf.
A defender by trade, Collins has goalscoring qualities as well, having netted four goals in his first eleven games of the season while producing an assist.
His contract with Borussia Dortmund expires at the end of the 2020-2021 campaign.
