Former Barcelona Star Urges Osimhen To Choose La Liga Side Ahead Of Chelsea, Man Utd, Liverpool
Published: April 24, 2020Former Barcelona defender Gbenga Okunowo has advised Victor Osimhen to consider a move to the Spanish champions over his Premier League suitors including Manchester United, Chelsea and Liverpool.
Barcelona will be looking to sign the Lille goal poacher in the summer transfer window if they fail to land the services of Inter Milan's Argentina striker Lautaro Martinez.
It is feared that Osimhen could find game time difficult to come by should he move to the Camp Nou, but Okunowo, who is the youngest Nigerian to play competitively for Barcelona at the age of 19, has a different opinion.
"In Barcelona all players are given chances, they will allow Osimhen adapt to their system if he is signed,'' said Okunowo to allnigeriasoccer.com.
"I was young when I joined Barcelona but I adapted because I followed instructions. There's pressure in Barcelona but I was able to handle it.
"Barcelona can sign any player they want to sign, they do a lot of research before eventually signing the player.
"Barcelona is a good club for Osimhen, he will play with world class players and his game will improve, so it's better than joining Manchester United, Liverpool or Chelsea."
On the coronavirus lockdown in Spain, Okunowo said : "You can go to the supermarkets anytime you want, the pharmacies and hospitals are open if you are sick.
"Banks are not open, you do transactions with your ATM card and through transfers. We have been on lockdown for six weeks."
Okunowo made 21 appearances in total for Barcelona in his maiden season in Spain, including five in the Champions League.
