Top 10 Most Efficient Goalscorers In MLS History : Eagles Star Ranks Higher Than Ibrahimovic, Keane
Published: May 01, 2020Out-of-favour Nigeria national-teamer Obafemi Martins has been named among the top ten most efficient goalscorers in the history of Major League Soccer by the official website of MLS.
With a conversion rate of 50 percent, Martins cracked the list at number three, behind Atlanta United's Josef Martinez (55.80 %) and Toronto's Jozy Altidore (51.08 %).
Some illustrious names have made the cut including former Manchester United striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic (45.61 %) and Tottenham Hotspur hero Robbie Keane (43.92 %) who are seventh and tenth respectively.
A player must have scored at least 40 goals in his career to be eligible to be included on the list, with the conversion rate expressed as goals/shots on goal.
Martins was a household name in Europe, playing for Inter Milan, Newcastle United, Wolfsburg, Rubin Kazan and Levente, before joining Seattle Sounders, for whom he scored 40 goals in 72 games across three seasons.
The 35-year-old is currently employed following his departure from Shanghai Shenhua.
