Mbappe Preferred Over Man Utd, Liverpool Linked Striker Osimhen In Ligue I TOTS
Published: May 03, 2020Celebrated French sports daily L'Equipe has unveiled a Team of the Season following the conclusion of the French Ligue 1 which was halted after the 28th round.
With an average rating of 5.92, Nigeria international Victor Osimhen was named among the seven substitutes.
In a 4-4-2 formation, Paris Saint-Germain star Kylian Mbappe (6.0) and Monaco's Wissam Ben Yedder (6.04) were chosen to lead the attack.
The two French strikers topped the goalscoring chart for the 2019-2020 campaign with 18 goals apiece while Osimhen finished with 13 strikes to emerge the joint-fourth highest scorer along with PSG's Brazil superstar Neymar who has been included in the Team of the Season.
Signed from Sporting Charleroi for 12 million euros, the Nigeria international's breakout season has seen his stock rise and the likes of Manchester United, Liverpool and Real Madrid are among the clubs credited with an interest in the number 7, who was valued at more than 80 million euros by Lille higher-ups before the coronavirus outbreak.
The 21-year-old got as many as 2,289 minutes of playing time in the 2019-2020 season and set up five goals.
Mbappe and Ben Yedder were also picked ahead of Osimhen in France Football's Team of the Season; the Super Eagle was among the 12 players selected to be on the bench.
