Ex-Barcelona Star Rules Out Interest In Super Eagles Coaching Job
Ex- Super Eagles winger and 1994 African Footballer of the Year winner Emmanuel Amunike has debunked rumours that he might be in line for consideration to succeed Gernot Rohr as the head coach of the Nigerian national team.

Rohr's contract with the Nigeria Football Federation ends on 30 June 2020 and is currently studying new contract proposal from the NFF.

"I'm not seeking for Super Eagles job, I have made myself clear, and I don't need to be repeating myself.

"Nobody knows my life more than God like I said if it is the will of God one day, I will coach the national team.

"You have a coach there in the team, and I have made it very clear, the coach himself has done very well so there's no need for baseless rumours.

The onetime Zamalek of Egypt player insists that hr is focused on doing his duties at El Makasa.

"I have my own challenges that I have to face and see, I hope that post Covid-19 we will be in a position to see if we can reform our team and then get back to the plans we have in mind."

Amunike led Tanzania to the 2019 AFCON in Egypt albeit his team failed to go past the group stages and he was relieved of his job.

Amunike a winner of the FIFA U-17 World Cup as Nigeria's coach in 2015 could still be considered as a serious candidate for the Eagles coaching job in future.
