'I'm Jealous Of The Bundesliga Players' - Ex-Wolfsburg Starlet Osimhen On Cancelled Ligue 1 Season
Published: May 18, 2020Former Wolfsburg striker Victor Osimhen has commented on the cancellation of the 2019-2020 French Ligue 1 season due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The Nigeria international noted that German Bundesliga players are now in the spotlight as it's the only major league in Europe that has resumed playing, but stressed that the Ligue de Football Professionnel (LFP) made the right decision to cancel the season in order to protect the health of the players.
In an Instagram conversation, the Lille number 7 stated : "I think the championship will resume in September or August but I don't know exactly.
"For the rest, the end of the season has been canceled, everyone is at home and it's really crazy …
"I'm really jealous of the Bundesliga players who have taken over. But I think it was the best decision in France and staying safe. "
Osimhen ended the campaign as Lille's top scorer in
all tournaments, scoring 18 goals and provided six assists before the
season was halted.
