'He Can't Bench Etebo Or Ndidi' - Super Eagles Fans React To Billing Snubbing Nigeria For Denmark
Published: May 21, 2020Bournemouth midfielder Philip Billing has dismissed speculation in the Nigerian media that he would represent the Super Eagles rather than his country of birth, Denmark.
The former Denmark U21 international admitted that he held talks with Super Eagles coach and told the German of his desire to represent the Scandinavian country.
Though he has been called up to the Danish senior team, he can still apply for a change of association because he has not played any competitive match.
Nigeria fans appear to be disappointed over Billing's decision to decline an offer to play for the Super Eagles, with some saying he's not better than midfielders Oghenekaro Etebo and Wilfred Ndidi and others saying he is not needed in the national team.
Here's what they are saying on Twitter :
@MMbah001 : "No philip billing for nigeria. A danish newspaper BT confirmed. He is only interested in playing for denmark 100 percent. So case closed. No super eagles for him."
@Dagbada : "Who needs this one....Go and sit down".
@Psalmuel__ : "He is not even good enough At Bournemouth. Fought relegation last season, new team struggling stay up this season.Bad quality".
@berbzz_ : "Well.. No disrespect towards Billings, but he can't actually Bench Karo, or Ndidi for Eagles. He can be good for depth, but we dont actually need him."
@Abi_odun : "He's not good enough he might end up no playing for any national side tho.. Cos Denmark got many bad guys on their books".
@ambassadoriffy : "Good choice Billing, because I don't see where you'd fit in with @NGSuperEagles.You are surely not good enough for us."
@Uption4u2c2013 : "Poor player wey no get level. Ball control zero. Your club side you’re not even regularly playing. Park well".
@BetrandEzequiel : "Who be this one...You cannot even bench Kelechi Nwakali that has not been capped".
@AkinsTouch : "Who is begging him?"
@tech_appr : "He wouldn't make our bench".
@fabasmd : "Enough of this insult. We don't need him".
@Chimabro : "We don't need him."
