Stoke City's Super Eagles Midfielder Extends Getafe Loan Deal
Published: June 20, 2020Allnigeriasoccer.com understands that Oghenekaro Etebo has extended his loan deal with Spanish La Liga side Getafe.
The Nigeria international midfielder will remain at the Estadio Coliseum Alfonso PĂ©rez outfit until the end of the 2019-2020 season in July.
The original agreement between Stoke City and Getafe would have kept Etebo at the Spanish side until the end of June but it has been prolonged because the season was paused in March due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Before the league was halted three months ago, Getafe were interested in signing the Super Eagles star permanently, but they are analyzing the financial impact of the coronavirus before making a fresh decision.
Seeking game time after falling out of favour with Potters boss Michael O'Neill, Etebo switched to Getafe in the January transfer window and has gone on to make nine appearances for the club in all competitions, including eight in La Liga.
Etebo, who has been capped 35 times by Nigeria, is under contract with Stoke City until June 30, 2023.
