'He Played In Liverpool Academy With Sterling' - Tirana Coach Egbo Recommends Ex-England U20 Striker To Rohr
Published: June 20, 2020KF Tirana coach Ndubuisi Egbo has recommended his striker Michael Ngoo to Super Eagles manager Gernot Rohr.
Ngoo qualifies to represent Nigeria and Cameroon through his mother and grandfather respectively as well as England, where he was born.
The London-born Ngoo has the highest goal contribution for the Albanian Superliga table toppers in the ongoing season, with nine goals and thirteen assists to his name.
He started for the England team that lost 1-0 to Nigeria at the 2011 FIFA U20 World Cup and also has caps for the Young Lions at U19 level.
Former Super Eagles goalkeeper Egbo pointed out that Ngoo has a sound footballing education thanks to his time at the Liverpool Academy, where he played on the same team as Raheem Sterling.
"Ngoo is the top assist provider in Tirana and one of the top scorers. In the game yesterday against Vllaznia Shkoder he scored one goal and gave two assists, " said Egbo to allnigeriasoccer.com.
"Any player can be called up from any league, I lost my spot in the national team when I moved to Albania because the coaches see it as a small league, they don't know how developed and massive it is.
"There are Nigerian strikers doing well in Albania, Kyrian Nwabueze who has an American passport was the top scorer in the league before he got injured, so you have a lot of them wondering why they are not invited.
"They should be invited because they are good players and should be given an opportunity."
Egbo added : "I believe Ngoo is good enough for the national team, he played in the Liverpool Academy with Raheem Sterling.
"He has the experience and grew up in a good environment, he is tall, almost two meters, very strong, good one vs one. We have to give every citizen a chance."
Apart from Liverpool, the 27-year-old Ngoo turned out for Oldham Athletic, Heart of Midlothian, Yeovil Town, Walsall, Kilmarnock and Bromley prior to his move to Tirana in September 2017.
