CD Leganes Suffer Blow As Spanish Football Federation Sanction Super Eagles Defender Awaziem
CD Leganes have suffered a blow in their bid to avoid the drop as manager Javier Aguirre will not be able to count on the services of Chidozie Awaziem for his side's must-win game against Athletic Club at the San Mamés Barria (Bilbao) on Thursday evening, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.

The Nigeria international is not available for selection because he has been sanctioned by the Competition Committee of the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) due to accumulated bookings.

Awaziem was shown his tenth yellow card of the season in the closing minutes of Leganes' 1-0 win against Valencia on July 12, triggering a one-game ban in the process.

The Porto loanee has had disciplinary issues this season as he sat out the trip to Levante in February as a result of accumulated bookings.

Should CD Leganes fail to win at Athletic Club, they will be relegated to the second tier with one game left as they currently trail seventeenth-placed Deportivo Alaves by four points.

Former Chelsea defender Kenneth Omeruo is still listed as out after suffering a hamstring problem vs Sevilla at the end of last month.

Awaziem has 26 games under his belt for Leganes in La Liga and his international teammate has featured in 23 matches.
