Two Super Eagles Defenders To Consider Moving On To Pastures New After Leganes' Relegation
The futures of two Super Eagles central defenders Kenneth Omeruo and Chidozie Awaziem will be the subject of debate after CD Leganes lost their top-flight status on Sunday following a 2-2 draw with champions Real Madrid at the Estadio Municipal de Butarque.

Sergio Ramos and Marco Asensio scored for Los Blancos, while Bryan Gil and Assalé netted for Los Pepineros.

Perhaps things would have been different if the referee had awarded a penalty after a clear handball by Luka Jovic but the VAR decision favoured Real Madrid.

The two Nigeria internationals were non-playing substitutes against the La Liga champions.

Awaziem has an escape route from Leganes as he was only on loan for the 2019-2020 season and is now expected to return to Porto and await further developments.

Allnigeriasoccer.com has been informed that Leganes earlier tested the waters to see if they can sign Awaziem permanently but they pulled out of a potential deal after they were quoted a fee of ten million euros.

As for Omeruo, the former Chelsea star is already attracting huge interest from Levante, according to Marca.

The 26-year-old, who has played 51 games in the Spanish top-flight since debuting, has a contract with Leganes until June 30, 2024.
