'The Team Tried Very Hard' - Torino Wing-back Ola Aina Reacts To Defeat To Fiorentina
Published: July 20, 2020Torino wing-back Ola Aina has given his reaction to his team's 2-0 loss to Fiorentina in an Italian Serie A clash at the Stadio Artemio Franchi (Firenze) on Sunday, July 19.
An own goal from Lyanco after two minutes and Patrick Cutrone's 75th minute strike condemned the Maroons to their 19th loss of the season.
Aina, who put in a 90-minute shift, noted that the early goal conceded proved to be their undoing and they did everything possible to find a way back into the game without success.
In quotes carried by Tuttomercatoweb.com, the Nigeria national-teamer said : "The team tried very hard, but unfortunately we were unable to bring home points.
"We immediately went into disadvantage and this complicated things, then 2-0 made everything even more difficult.
"But we have not stopped playing and we have tried to reopen the game until the last few days. In these days we have worked hard to play higher and be more present in the area but unfortunately it was not enough."
Torino are eight points clear of the drop zone, with four games left to the end of the 2019-2020 season.
