'England Is A Strong Possibility' - Stoke City, West Brom Handed Boost In Pursuit Of Chelsea Legend
Published: August 13, 2020English Premier League newcomers West Brom and Championship side Stoke City have been handed a boost in their pursuit of John Obi Mikel after the Chelsea hero declared that he's open to playing in England again.
The Champions League, Europa League and Premier League winner with Chelsea had a brief spell with Middlesbrough in 2019, playing 19 games in all competitions, including six as captain of the side.
Mikel is on the lookout for a new employer after mutually terminating his contract with Trabzonspor five months ago over coronavirus fears.
Asked to react to speculation linking him with a return to England, Mikel told BBC : "Yes, there are interested clubs and England is a strong possibility and why not.
"We are currently in talks with clubs and there is absolutely no hurry. I can only wait to see what happens."
