Arsenal-Owned Center Back Olowu Faces Three Weeks On The Sidelines
Published: September 02, 2020Allnigeriasoccer.com understands that League of Ireland Premier Division side Cork City have been dealt a big blow with the news that Arsenal-owned central defender Joseph Olowu faces up to three weeks on the sidelines.
Against Derry City on August 21, Olowu went down unchallenged, holding his hamstring and the physio
attended to him but he couldn't continue the game and had to be replaced
by Ronan Hurley in the 34th minute.
Cork City medics have confirmed that the Nigerian-born center back suffered a hamstring injury and he'll be out of action for three weeks if his rehabilitation goes according to plan.
The 20-year-old wasn't available for selection in Cork City's 2-1 loss to Shamrock Rovers at the end of last month and is ruled out of two key games against Shelbourne and Shamrock Rovers in the Premier Division.
Prior to his spell on the sidelines, Olowu was named in Cork City's starting lineup on nine occasions and got on the scoresheet against Derry City - his first goal as a professional.
His loan deal with the Rebel Army was originally expected to keep
him at the club until June but it has been extended until the end of the
season.
