Derby's Shonibare Scores For Second Consecutive Match In Win Against Liverpool U23
Published: September 19, 2020Josh Shonibare netted for the second consecutive game as Derby County defeated Liverpool 2-1 in a Premier League 2 game on Friday evening, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.
The Nigerian winger opened his goalscoring account for the season in an entertaining 3-3 draw with Manchester City last weekend and followed it up with another goal against The Reds.
Goalkeeper Emmanuel Idem, Olamide Ibrahim and Shonibare all started for the Rams at the Loughborough University Football Stadium.
Jake Cain scored with a free-kick from 25 yards out to give the visitors the lead in the 12th minute but Derby County found an equaliser after twelve minutes and it came from Shonibare, who rifled his effort in following a cross from Tyree Wilson, before Jack Stretton's close range effort made it 2-1.
Shonibare, 22, is in his third season with Derby County after joining from Greenwich Borough in September 2018.
His first involvement in a Derby County matchday squad came against Barrow FC in the League Cup two weeks ago.
