Fiabema On Target, Six Other Nigeria-Eligible Players Feature As Chelsea Beat Arsenal 3-0 PL2
Published: October 04, 2020Seven players of Nigerian descent were on parade for both teams as Chelsea thrashed Arsenal 3-0 in a Premier League 2 fixture on Sunday afternoon, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.
Fullbacks Daniel Oyegoke and Ryan Alebiosu, midfielders James Olayinka and Tim Akinola, and striker Folarin Balogun all started for Arsenal, while Miguel Azeez and Bryan Fiabema were introduced off the bench in the second half.
Goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo's injury problems are over as he was included in the Arsenal U23 matchday squad for the second game running but was a non-playing substitute.
Maatsen gave Chelsea the lead in the 27th minute, the Netherlands youth international slotting home after Oyegoke was robbed of the ball.
And for all their dominance, The Blues only had their first half goal to show for their efforts until the 87th minute when Bryan Fiabema, on as a substitute in the 58th minute, found the net from close range to double the advantage.
It was Fiabema's first goal for Chelsea U23s in his third appearance for the age group following his move from Tromso IL in January 2020.
The Norwegian-Nigerian opened his goalscoring account for the U18s against West Ham on September 19.
