UCL: Super Eagle Onyeka Passes Fitness Test, Named In FCM Matchday Squad Vs Atalanta
Published: October 21, 2020FC Midtjylland star Frank Onyeka has passed a late fitness test, paving the way for him to be picked by manager Brian Priske and his coaching staff for Wednesday's Champions League match against Atalanta at the MCH Arena, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.
The Nigeria national teamer was rated as doubtful for the opening fixture against the Italians after suffering an injury while on international duty with the Super Eagles earlier this month.
With 23 players named in the squad, it is confirmed that Onyeka will be on the matchday sheet provided that he does not suffer an injury in the pre-match warm up.
It is worth noting that the central midfielder has not figured for FC Midtjylland since September 30 when he helped them qualify for the group stage of the Champions League, having missed back-to-back Superliga matches with AC Horsens and Odense Boldklub.
The FC Ebedei product, who has been assigned the number 38 for the Champions League, has clocked up eleven appearances in European competitions.
Meanwhile, teenage strikers Unwana William Akpan and Justice Chigozirim Ohajunwa have not been registered by FC Midtjylland for the Champions League and are not part of the 23-man group.
