Slavia Prague's Olayinka Delighted To Score After His Recovery From COVID-19
Published: October 30, 2020Peter Olayinka was pleased to score the winning goal for Slavia Prague in a 1-0 victory over Bayer Leverkusen in a Europa League match on Thursday.
The Nigeria international came off the bench in the 61st minute and won a penalty for his side three minutes after his introduction after he was fouled by Hradecky but the Czech Republic club missed a golden chance to score from the spot.
Ten minutes from time, Olayinka broke the deadlock when he headed the ball into the net following Stanciu's cross from a corner.
The former Gent star normally would have been named in the starting lineup but wasn't physically ready having recently recovered from coronavirus.
"I feel good now. Past few weeks have been tough for me, but it is what it is, and I don’t care anymore. I just wanted to be back, and I am back on the pitch now," said Olayinka to Slavia's official website.
Olayinka took a bang in the face but still celebrated his third goal of the season despite his broken nose.
"Everything happened so fast. I was very happy, excited. And I also broke my nose, but I am happy for the goal though. I happened after the goal, I think I got kicked, but I cannot really remember what exactly happened.
"I am going to watch the replay to find out," he added.
Slavia Prague's next Europa League game comes up against OGC Nice on Thursday, November 5.
