'Wilf Has Been So Consistent' - Leicester Coach On Ndidi's Midfielder Partnership With Mendy
Published: November 04, 2020Wilfred Ndidi will play no part for Leicester City in Thursday's Europa League meeting with Sporting Braga at the King Power Stadium as he is still recovering from an adductor injury.
Foxes boss Brendan Rodgers was delighted that Nampalys Mendy, who found playing opportunities hard to come by last season, has stepped up in the absence of the Nigerian.
The Northern Irish tactician noted that the former Nice star and Ndidi combine better when they play alongside a creative midfielder.
Speaking at Wednesday's pre-match press conference, Rodgers said when asked to comment on Mendy's form : "I think he’s performing to the level that the club saw when they brought him in.
"He’s tactically very good, understands the role and does the dirty work.
"When he’s played before, he’s played with Wilf, both of them need someone more creative beside them.
"Wilf has been so consistent so it’s been difficult for him."
Although Ndidi is not expected to return to action until December, Leicester have registered the Super Eagles star for the group stage of the Europa League.
