'I Vow To Put The Next One In' - Fulham's Lookman Takes Full Responsibility After Penalty Miss
Published: November 08, 2020Fulham star Ademola Lookman has taken full responsibility in the wake of missing a Panenka penalty in the closing seconds of the Premier League clash against West Ham at the London Stadium on Saturday night.
The Cottagers were on the brink of snatching a point right at the death, referee Robert Jones awarded them a penalty after reviewing the pitch-side VAR monitor.
Lookman would have become the hero for Fulham but the confident RB Leipzig loanee saw his Paneka penalty easily saved by goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski.
The Super Eagles hopeful was criticized by an angry manager Scott Parker who revealed post-match that the winger was handed penalty taking duties at the expense of Aleksandar Mitrovic only because the Serbian striker was carrying a knock.
Writing on Instagram, Lookman said : "After yesterday's mistake, I take full responsibility and onus for it.
"To my teammates, manager and the supporters I vow to put the next one in. I will not let one failure hold me back. @fulhamfc".
Lookman's post drew reactions from players of Nigerian descent Ola Aina, Diallang Jaiyesimi and Noah Ohio, as well as England international Tammy Abraham.
Bar his penalty miss, Lookman has started his career with Fulham really well and found the net on his full Premier League debut against Sheffield United in their penultimate away game in the Premier League.
