Snapped: Nigeria-Eligible Midfielder Called Up To Chelsea First Team Training Pre-Krasnodar
Published: December 08, 2020Nigeria-eligible attacking midfielder Faustino Anjorin was called up to first team training by manager Frank Lampard ahead of tonight's Champions League meeting with Krasnodar at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea's official website has published photos of the team's final workout before taking to the pitch against the Russian Premier League side and the England youth international was part of the session at Cobham.
Anjorin is one of three players of Nigerian descent eligible to be included in Chelsea's Champions League squad via the List B, the others being goalkeeper Prince Adegoke and Derrick Abu, but only the Poole-born midfielder has made the cut for the final group game.
If selected, it would be the first time in Anjorin's career that he has been included in a matchday squad for a Champions League game.
He has made matchday squads for the Premier League, FA Cup and League Cup in the past.
By virtue of a better head-to-head record, Chelsea advanced to the knockout rounds as winners of Group E regardless of the outcome of the match against the Russian opponents.
