Semi Ajayi Goes 90 As West Brom Concede Their Fastest Premier League Goal Of The Season

West Brom coach Slaven Bilić is a man under pressure after seeing his side lose 2-1 to Newcastle United at St James' Park on Saturday evening, a loss that keeps them 19th in the standings but have played two more games than Burnley in 18th place.

Nigeria international Semi Ajayi made his eleventh Premier League start of the season and the central defender put in a full shift.

Miguel Almiron gave the Magpies a dream start when he opened the scoring after 19.98 seconds, the fastest goal scored in the top-flight so far in the 2020-2021 campaign.

With a lot of space on the right hand side of the box, the Paraguay international slotted into the net after a lovely ball from Joelinton and the goal was given after a VAR check.

Ajayi was so advanced as part of a back three, allowing Newcastle to take full advantage inside 20 seconds though there was suspicion of a foul in the build-up to their opener.

Five minutes into the second half, the home team were pegged back by an equaliser from Darnell Furlong but
Dwight Gayle, off the bench against the side he was on loan at for the 2018-19 season, secured the victory for Newcastle with an 82nd minute winner.

Ajayi was yellow carded in the 69th minute after committing a rough foul, his first caution since the opening day loss to Leicester City.
