Arsenal Legend Backs Leicester To Challenge For Champions League Spot With Ndidi's Return
Published: December 13, 2020Arsenal hero Ian Wright is backing Leicester City to challenge for a Champions League position this season following the return to action of their influential holding midfielder Wilfred Ndidi and the form of the key players in the team.
Brendan Rodgers side have moved into the top three after matchday 12 thanks to their comprehensive 3-0 win over Brighton & Hove at the King Power Stadium on Sunday night.
The Foxes secured their eighth win of the season courtesy of three first half goals from James Maddison (2) and Jamie Vardy.
Making his first Premier League start since September, Ndidi came close to giving Leicester City an early lead but saw his attempt sail over the crossbar inside 120 seconds.
Leicester City have done well in the new season despite their fixture congestion, finishing top of their group to make the last 32 of the Europa League and have kept kicking on in the Premier League, fighting for Champions League football.
Speaking on Premier League Productions after tonight's clash vs the Seagulls, Wright stated : "If you look at Ndidi coming back, Maddison finding his form, Jamie Vardy looking like he's still 27, 28-year-old, Tielemans fantastic in midfield, the team is more than good enough to sustain the challenge.
"More than good enough, exciting team to watch from back to front".
