Tottenham Hotspur Defender Okedina Nets Brace In Seven-Goal Thriller Against Liverpool U23
Published: December 19, 2020Nigeria-eligible defender Jubril Okedina netted for his second consecutive game as Tottenham Hotspur won a seven-goal thriller against Liverpool in a Premier League 2 match at Liverpool’s Academy Ground (Knowsley, Merseyside) on Saturday evening.
The Tottenham Hotspur U23 star was on target in a 3-2 loss to Chelsea on Monday, opening the scoring in the second minute and also broke the deadlock with the game two minutes old vs Liverpool.
Okedina rose highest before powering the ball into the net following a cross from Harvey White but it was all square at the break after Morton cancelled out Lyons-Foster's goal.
Three minutes after the restart, the Anglo-Nigerian headed in his second of the game from a corner to make it 3-2, with Harvey White once again providing the assist, only for Bearne to restore parity in the 52nd minute.
A late, late goal from Clarke secured a 4-3 win and clinched the three points for the north London club.
Okedina, who trained with Tottenham Hotspur's first team in pre-season, has been a key player for the U23s this season, going the distance in all the matches contested in the Premier League 2, eleven in total.
Former Arsenal defender Tobi Omole and striker Kion Etete put in a full shift for Tottenham Hotspur.
